Piers Morgan has snapped back at the tens of thousands of Ofcom complaints by saying the “majority of Britons agree with me” about Meghan Markle following his departure from Good Morning Britain.
The former breakfast TV presenter has received over 57,000 complaints to the independent communications regulator but he is unbothered.
He tweeted, “Only 57,000? I’ve had more people than that come up & congratulate me in the street for what I said. The vast majority of Britons are right behind me.”
He claims that most of the public is on his side after what he said about the claims Meghan Markle made in the two-hour interview with Oprah Winfrey. The show has lost over 255,000 viewers since he quit.
Viewers were shocked to hear how she experience racism, felt unsupported by “The Firm” after they failed to get her support for mental health problems, despite her begging.
After saying on live television that “he didn’t believe a word” of Markle, and various other instances of bad behaviour, he faced thousands of complaints from Ofcom and left the show days later.
He has since promised to “retaliate” following the outpouring of criticism of his words. Such critics include the mental health charity Mind voice who said they were “disappointed and concerned” about the episode.
It was later revealed the Duchess of Sussex herself had made a complaint about his tirade.
Much was made about Morgan’s inability to get as good as he gives after storming off after cohost Alex Beresford said he was “trashing Meghan” and everyone was well aware of how he felt about her.
It has since been suggested that Morgan and Markle have only met a few times before Markle decided not to return his messages.
