Simple online word game Wordle has taken the internet by storm as examples of it appear across social media daily.
If you’ve noticed people posting a grid with grey, yellow and green squares, Wordle will be why.
Wordle is a daily word game puzzle where users have six tries to guess what the 5 letter word is.
The colour-coded system lets users guess the word and gives them hints if they’re close or not.
First, users have to guess a five letter word and the letters then change colour to indicate whether they are correct.

If a letter tile turns into a green square, it means the user has got the correct letter in the correct place.
A yellow tile means the letter is featured in the word, but it is in the wrong place. Meanwhile, grey means that the letter is not in the word at all.
With the puzzle being the same for every player each day and with results easily shareable, the game has gone viral in recent weeks.
