Jaw-dropping list of wedding ‘rules’ including ‘don’t talk to the bride’ goes viral on Reddit

Every prospective bride and groom wants their wedding day to be perfect. After all, it is supposed to be “the best day of your life”.

However, whilst sharing the occasion with loved ones is enough for most people, some people need to go that extra mile to ensure everything is just so.

That’s why one couple apparently asked their wedding planner to send guests a detailed list of “rules and regulations” for their special day.

Some of the stipulations were relatively reasonable – “don’t wear white, cream or ivory” – but others were jaw-droppingly extreme.

“DO NOT TALK TO THE BRIDE AT ALL,” was written in capital letters to stress this point’s importance, and dress code instructions extended as far as how much makeup each attendee could wear. They were also told they would not be admitted unless they brought a gift worth at least $75 (£54).

The email containing the demands was shared to Reddit on Wednesday, racking up more than 33,400 likes in just 24 hours.

Redditors revelled in the absurd diktat, visualising how guests would look and behave on the day.

“I do hope everyone with short hair, especially the men, are able to get extensions so they can fashion their hair into a simple ponytail,” wrote one.

“I’m thinking wigs. Wigs in all colours. Fastest way to get a bob,” commented another.

“Hateful wigs with a low ponytail, à la George Washington,” offered a third.

While a fourth suggested attendees should all wear “black tracksuits with no makeup at all”.

A fifth took a different stance, writing: “Bonus points to anyone who goes with 50% of their face totally dolled up to the nines and 50% untouched.”

The same user added: “People should go for some malicious compliance here and everyone, without exception, completely blank the bride. Go up and congratulate the groom, not the couple. Just not acknowledge her all night.”

A sixth recommended guests “bring a gift worth $74.99, see if they let you in.”

While a seventh said: “I think a $75 donation to a charity is the perfect gift for this wacko.”

All we can say is, we wonder how many people will show up on the day. After all, they sound like a fun couple, don’t they?
