A “genius” message found underneath some wallpaper has gone viral after it was shared on Twitter on Tuesday.
The note, dating back to 21 December 1997, was described as “a very British message” by the user, despite it reportedly being discovered by a woman from Queensland in Australia, who shared it in a private Facebook group for ‘Bunnings Mums’.
The post went on to receive more than 8,500 likes on the social media platform in the three hours after it was shared, according to the New Zealand Herald.
The message, from a man known only as ‘Jon’, reads: “If you ever need to wallpaper this room again, it will take eight rolls of wallpaper.
“I bought just six rolls at $17.00 per roll [on 5 December 1997] and I didn’t have enough.
“It really p***ed me off.”
Sharing their reactions to the message, several users soon expressed their sympathies towards the frustrated Jon and his dilemma:

It’s unknown what Jon is up to now, almost 24 years on from the incident, but hopefully, he has as much wallpaper roll as he could possibly need.
