If the sign of a good band is whether they’re willing to go down with the ship, this shopping mall band is one of the best in the world.
When the Plaza Patria mall in Zapopan, Mexico, flooded after torrential rains hit the city on Sunday, a group of local musicians didn’t miss a beat and came up with a plan to lighten the mood.
Their song choice? The iconic theme tune from Titanic…
There are so many questions about this - Is this band always prepared to play Celine Dion at a moment's notice? Have they been waiting for this moment?
There can't be many times when "My Heart Will Go On" works in a shopping centre...
But most importantly, why did one of the staff members try to place a bucket to catch the water?
At least they tried…
And because it’s the internet, someone had to be a pedant and point out that the band in Titanic actually play “Nearer My God To Thee”, not “My Heart Will Go On”.
But everyone else was happy to just enjoy the absurdity of it all.
The Plaza Patria mall actually flooded last year as well, according to Mexico News Daily, at the beginning of the rainy season in 2018.
So maybe the band missed their opportunity last year and decided to rehearse for it this time…
