A TikTok user is going viral for her innovative response to catcallers.
Lauren Bachman’s video, “how to properly deal with men”, depicts her barking at men who are harassing her and has garnered over 1.5 million views.
Bachman was filming herself walking down the street and talking about her outfit when a group of men, not shown on camera, shouted “so fine” at her and tried to engage her in conversation.
In response, Bachman turned to them and barked at them, causing them to back off sharply.
Reacting to the footage, people have praised her for her quick thinking.

“Normalise barking at men,” one user said.
Another said: “That was a great response. I will be using that.”
Others sympathised with her about the incident. One user commented: “That makes me so uncomfy just let a girl walk in peace.”
And Bachman is not the only TikTok user to bark to defend herself. Other social media users have posted on Twitter and TikTok about their use of the tactic.
In another video, Bachman responded to critics who said she should not have said “hello” to the men, initially. She said: “That does not give anyone the right to make me feel uncomfortable. You can see how uncomfortable I was.”
Too right.
