With an estimated 50 million users worldwide, Tinder has become thoroughly woven into the fabric of dating life.

Matching with someone can be exciting and filled with the potential for The Notebook-level of romance.

For 19-year-old Mark Kowalczyk however, matching with Jenna Zagrodniczek was like something out of The Matrix.

You see, the West Virginia teen had been swiping his way through Tinder when he came across Jenna, whose profile picture was a selfie she had taken in a bathroom.

His bathroom.

Kowalczyk had never met the girl before.

Quickly taking to Twitter, he wrote:

In a matter of days, his tweet amassed almost 15,000 retweets and, well, people reacted accordingly...

Eventually Zagrodniczek got wind of his tweet, and instead of explaining why she had been in his house, she added fuel to fire:

Kowalczyk told BuzzFeed:

I assumed that since we had a couple parties before, it must have been from one of those nights.

Zagrodniczek eventually confirmed that she had, in fact, been at a house party he hosted, but hadn't met him.

Her response gave birth to a whole new set of tweets by people who saw the weird Tinder story as destiny...

The pair will be going out for Halloween.

This is how 21st century romance works people.
