Wanderlust: Article about television and sex has become Twitter's new favourite meme

Let's set the scene. You are having a romantic night in with your partner.

You've just finished watching a movie after eating a delicious meal. Then your partner starts to make eyes at you.

You realise what's up, so you say the words that you know your loved one has been waiting to hear:

Let's sweep the special chimney.

We know. That's not something that everybody says.

In fact, we're not sure if anybody in the history of planet Earth has ever said that, apart from maybe a Victorian chimney sweep who might have once been asked to clean a chimney at Buckingham Palace.

Yet, somehow this remarkable phrase has managed to weave its way into an article by The Timestitled 'I'll tell you what's wrong with midlife sex - the telly.'

In the article, writer Carol Midgley proposes that constantly watching the television will lead to a downturn in your sex life.

Now, we're sure Carol is a lovely person and that the article makes a valid point, but the fact that it contains the "special chimney" phrase, and that The Times included it in the copy of the tweet for the article, has somewhat backfired.

As we all know by now, once Twitter finds something amusing they can't help but keep talking about it and making hilarious jokes.

Here are some of the best.

For some people, it's put them off the thought of love-making forever.

Some were still a little confused as to what 'sweeping the special chimney' actually meant.

There were plenty of Mary Poppins gifs.

Even other publications loved it.

Some people actually appreciated it.

We honestly don't know what's going on anymore.
