A Spanish TikTok star with 26m followers has caused outrage after he revealed he tells his sexual partners he is sterile in order to avoid using a condom.

Naim Darrechi made the confession in a video where he boasted to Spanish YouTuber Mostopapi: “I find it difficult with a condom, so I never use one.”

“I started thinking that I had a problem” he added, “So I tell them ‘relax, I’m sterile’. It’s true.”

The 19-year-old has sparked anger among women who have condemned his comments on Twitter, while others were also concerned that Darrechi could’ve passed on a sexually transmitted disease.

Darrechi later apologised after receiving viral backlash, on Instagram he said: ““I’m really sorry... it’s just crazy what I said.

“I want to apologise, really. Sometimes I don’t realise the responsibility that is mine...

“I made a comment that really is out of place and that is not right. Sometimes I say things and sometimes I exaggerate, but here it’s just crazy what I said, I wish it had been cut at the edit and no-one would ever have heard it.”

But that has not satisfied Spain’s equality minister, Irene Montero who has called for a prosecutor to investigate whether or not Darrechi has deceived women.

In her tweet she refers to a new bill “only yes means yes” that was passed earlier this month which says all non-consensual sex is rape.

She tweeted: “To take off the condom or ejaculate during intercourse without consent is sexual abuse today and the ‘only yes means yes’ law will recognise it as assault.”

Montero added that “to show off about such a thing in front of 26 million followers demonstrates the urgency of putting the consent issue centre stage”.

However, it’s not the first time that Darrechi has faced backlash.

Earlier this year in May, he was criticised for his TikTok video where he condemned abortion, the BBC reported.
