A huge fire in an Australian cattle breeding factory has been the unlikely butt of an endless stream of jokes given the, err, nature of the produce destroyed.

The primary damage was done to 100 cylinders of... bull semen. Yes, you read that right.

The Country Fire Authority commander for the area explained the crew had to be wary of "projectiles" coming at them while they tackled the blaze. He said:

The liquid inside the cylinders was rapidly expanding and essentially the lids of the cryogenic cylinders were just popping off the top and projectiles were being thrown from the building.

After Newsweek brought the story to the masses (we thank you), the tweets basically wrote themselves.

In case you were wondering, the cylinders are worth between AU$500 and AU$1,000 (£274 to £548) per unit but the actual semen inside them varies in price.

It's big business, apparently.
