Seagulls appear to have gained an acquired taste over lockdown and have since moved away from stealing beachgoers' chips to something a bit more accessible.

One TikToker caught a daring gull on camera in a creative — and successful — attempt to secure a snack.

The sneaky bird knew exactly what he wanted. The video showed the brazen gull walking into the shop to the crisps display before leaping to the second shelf to swipe his preferred flavour of crisps.

The seagull then waddled out of the shop in a successful getaway as though nothing had happened.

Emma-Lou (@emmalr89) took to TikTok with the evidence, which has since racked 600K views on the viral video. TikTok users were left in hysterics and flooded the comments in disbelief.

Some users jokingly conspired that the notorious seagull was trained to shoplift. “Plot twist: The seagull is trained to steal from shops”, one said.

One added, “I hope somebody trained him to do that.”

One curious commenter quizzed, “What I want to know is what do you do when this happens?”

“How do you even explain that to a cop?” One joked.

While another said, “The seagull be like, I only wanted a bag of crisps.”
