Police chief accused of registering Tea Party leader on gay dating sites

A police chief in Wisconsin has been charged after allegedly signing up a local Tea Party leader for gay dating websites, porn and federal health care.

Prosecutors in America have charged Tim Kelemen with one count of unlawful use of a compturised communication system, AP reports.

According to Kelemen’s attorney, Jim Birnbaum, the charges are unfair. Kelemen admits to signing Greg Luce up for the sites, but said this came after Tea Party provocation.

"The behaviour of the Tea Party has been unchallenged and unabated," Birnbaum said.

"Then to have a charge filed against the chief because of, really, an act of frustration is unfortunate.”

Reuters reports the row between Kelemen and Luce began after Tea Party members began protesting near a motorway, which police argued distracted drivers.
