Social media constantly throws up examples of people discovering their partners have been unfaithful thanks to sloppy slip-ups – remember that TikTok star and the iPhone live photo?

But one woman who thought she’d found evidence that her boyfriend was cheating on her was helpfully proved wrong after posting her suspicions on Facebook.

The devastated girlfriend shared an image of the “condom” she’d found down the side of the sofa to a private group, thinking it was proof that her man had been unfaithful.

However, fellow members were quick to reassure her that the plastic sheath was much more innocent than it looked.

It was, in fact, the wrapper for a Peperami.

The spicy salami snack is coated in thin plastic tubing which, as Ladbible points out, measures in at 1.1 x 22.4 x 4.5cm.

In other words, it’s not the size of your average prophylactic.

Replying to the message, which was reportedly first shared on the Girlsmouth Facebook group, one user wrote: "Think that’s the last thing she needs to worry about if she thinks that would fit him."

Another allegedly added: "If the size of the wrapper resembles his willy, then it wouldn’t be worth a broken heart anyway."

A screenshot of the post was later shared on the parody Twitter account ‘The State of Facebook,’ alongside the caption “feeling heartbroken.”

We imagine that the original poster probably feels less “heartbroken” and more embarrassed right now.

But we can’t help wondering what her fella made of all this...
