People love this mum's first ever message on WhatsApp

A mother has been praised across the land for her pithy opening line after being added to a family WhatsApp group.

Rita McGinn, from Tallaght in Dublin, has enjoyed her 15 minutes of internet fame after her son Dave shared a grab of the exhange on Twitter:

Dave told indy100 that his mum is often making wisecracks like that but he wasn't expecting this to be so popular.

I just thought it was funny and worth a tweet, and I guess it got legs! She's very funny and sharp usually, so the family is used to these kind of remarks - I guess she is just taking her humour onto a new medium now!

While the screenshot has clearly resonated with people around the world...

...Dave said that the family hardly batted an eyelid.

I responded with 'Touché', and nobody else acknowledged it, we must be used to it at this stage!
