There was a sudden surge of interest in the city of Dundee on Thursday morning as photos of a slightly unusual newspaper headline did the rounds on social media...
Supposedly spotted on the Blackness Road, it certainly raised a few eyebrows among local residents:
As with all local newspaper headlines that cause a stir, the usual jokes were out in force:
It was suggested that the next train to Dundee would probably be sold out:
Maybe Dundee could become a major tourist hotspot:
People assumed the sub-editor must have taken a day off:
But surely there was some mischief at work:
Indeed, as with all things that seem too good to be true, this one most certainly is.
Speaking to i100.co.uk on Thursday morning, the Courier's news editor Alan Richardson confirmed: "It should be 'major jobs blow'." Of course, someone had taken the poster out of its casing, cut out the words and re-arranged them:
If you actually look closely you can see the lines... Some cheeky scamp has come along and taken his chances.
But there we are, it's one of those things. Not a big deal.
