A new mum has been praised for sharing her “motherhood uncensored” experiences on Facebook.
While the world may be used to seeing filtered and photoshopped post-partum images of women who 'got their bodies back', mother-of-two Amanda Bacon decided to share a little more realistic image of her in a “giant mom diaper” shortly after birth.
The photo is a ‘selfie’ taken by Bacon’s partner of him holding the newborn baby boy, with his wife wearing a diaper in the background. Why? Because "the realities of post-partum life aren’t spoken about enough. And definitely not photographed enough".
I'm sharing this picture because it's real. This is motherhood; it's raw, stunning, messy, and freaking hilarious all rolled into one.

Despite only being posted on Wednesday, the post has already attracted almost half a million likes and 117,000 shares after being shared on the Breastfeeding Mama Talk page.
Whilst there have been some negative responses the vast majority have been incredibly supportive and congratulatory: “I don’t care what anyone says, there’s nothing more comfortable than some stretchy mesh panties and a cool rinse on the hooha with the squirt bottle they give you after having a baby! It’s the simple things”.
Anther commentator added: “I can’t say how much I LOVE this picture. This is my first pregnancy and all I talk about is how no one talks about all the odd/non-beautiful things that surround pregnancy and post-partum. I would rather see images like this than professional baby bump pictures. Thank you for sharing!”
