Many of us would have dreamt of how our perfect marriage proposal would play out but one couple clearly had a difference of opinions at a baseball game in Massachusetts on Thursday.
A viral video has emerged from a minor league game at Polar Park on Thursday night, home of the Worcester Red Sox that will have many second-guessing whether a proposal in front of a packed stadium is the right thing to do.
During the game, a couple were presented to the crowd with the man getting down on one knee to presumably pop the question to his other half. However, the woman clearly wasn’t ready for that type of commitment and fled the scene as quickly as she could, overwhelmed at what had just happened.
Footage from the incident was shared on Instagram where some spectators can be heard saying “oh my god.” obviously shocked at what they have just seen.
This was also reported on Twitter by photographer Ashley Green and alternative footage of the proposal gone wrong emerged on social.
However, a debate has since developed out of this viral video, which has been viewed more than 70,000 times on Instagram alone. Some can’t quite believe what they saw, while others who were actually there are claiming the whole thing was staged.
A clip uploaded on YouTube also claims that a source has said that it was “very real.”
Real or not, marriage proposals in front of huge crowds are a big no-no unless you are 100 per cent sure the other person will say ‘yes.’
Earlier this year devastating footage of a man having a marriage proposal brutally rejected in front of a packed shopping mall in New Jersey also went viral, leaving him distressed and needing to be helped to his feet by onlookers.
