First its inept dance moves at the Super Bowl stole all the headlines, now Katy Perry's "left shark" is now being used to save the planet.
Environmental engineer David Lam has set up an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign selling stickers of the shark and replica costumes with all the proceeds going to charities like the World Wildlife Fund and the Wildlife Conservation Society.
Using Indiegogo and website HalfTimeSharkSuit.com, Lam has managed to easily exceed his monthly target of $5,000 (£3,290) within the space of two days.
People who back the project can expect a range of gifts in return for their donations - $5 gets a shark sticker, $15 gets you a shark costume template while $59 gets you a replica shark suit ready-made.
Lam says his expertise in procurement means he can "perform the due diligence necessary to find us the best manufacturer that will provide the best value" for the costumes. The campaign closes on 4 March.
