As most Irish people know, people who aren’t Irish tend to be awful at pronouncing Irish words.

Names in particular, like Niamh or Gráinne, seem to be particularly difficult to pronounce for people who aren’t familiar with the dialect.

But this genius new Twitter thread by @soulsgloss is so good that, after reading it, you’ll never struggle to pronounce an Irish words again.

The thread cleverly explains how to pronounce common Irish sounds, with letter combinations to help us understand how words sound different to how we might imagine.

Though, as @soulsgloss points out, these pronunciations can vary.
