Instagram’s photo uploading policy is often criticised for its emphasis on censoring the female form.
Last year, the social media giant repeatedly came under fire for removing posts depicting female nipples, while leaving the male equivalent up.
Community guidelines state that no images or videos showing “sexual intercourse, genitals, and close-ups of fully-nude buttocks” are allowed, and, as of April include “some photos of female nipples”.
Some Instagram accounts have taken to mocking the censorship, and even attempting to circumvent it; Genderless nipples (which posts photographs of nipples without the owner’s gender) and Stephanie Sarley, (whose sexually implicative images of fruits got her Instagram account shut down on several occasions) are just two of them.
Look at This Pusssy is the newest Instagram account to tackle this issue, by uploading images of regular, everyday objects that are shaped, in some way, to look like vaginas.
Run by Chelsea Jones and Eva Sealove – both from Los Angeles, the duo accompany the images with fun descriptors.
Here are some of their photos:
Some fruit
Simple
Sand and fabric
Something as innocent as a bag of balloons
Or as innocuous as a cloud
Seafood
A cat emerging from curtains, or as the duo write, 'this p---y is emerging from betwixt the gentle fold of another p---y':
A tree
Folds of clothing
The shape of your lips as you blow a bubble
