This Instagram account will make you think twice about some of your favourite song lyrics

It seems the more popular an artist is, the more they can get away with when it comes to singing lyrics that are completely absurd.

From pop icons like Taylor Swift and One Direction, to rap megastars like Drake and Kanye West, nobody is safe since the creation of lyricshitposts earlier this month.

Lyricshitposts takes lyric cards from everybody’s go-to lyric website Genius and posts them without context to the delight of many.

The account has since reached almost 300,000 followers across Instagram and Twitter in less than a fortnight.

From weird observations that mysteriously make sense:

People are reveling in the ridiculousness they’ve found themselves singing to at concerts.

Good songs have never really had to make sense - it brings to light just how much musicians can get away with providing there’s a good melody to back it up.
