If your bedtime routine of meditation, a bath and a screen ban is boring you, there's some exciting news on the way.
Having sex before bed helps you sleep, according to research from Central Queensland University.
The project, which has the pretty inviting name 'Sex as Sleep Therapy', confidentially surveyed 460 adults.
It found that 64 per cent of people slept better after they'd had sex, though the effect is reportedly more positive if they orgasm.
Dr Michele Lastella, who helped lead the research, said in a statement:
The project is based on some preliminary research evidence that, after humans have sex and achieve orgasm, we have a massive release of a hormone called oxytocin.Â
This hormone among many other feel-good hormones has been said to act as a sedative to reduce the time it takes to fall asleep.
Oxytocin, which is sometimes referred to as the 'love hormone' or 'cuddle hormone', is released when people cuddle or bond. It has been found to influence sleep and your dreams thanks to the feel-good endorphins.
The good news doesn't stop there.
Experts also recommend having morning sex: one survey found that the best time to have sex is 7:30 am.
Researchers reasoned that people have more stamina at this time and the rush of endorphins will set a positive tone for the rest of the day.
