A hairdresser has amazed fellow TikTok users after revealing that she can go eight weeks without having to wash her hair.

Australian TikTok user @michelledennismumof.3, who goes by the name Michelle, made the revelation in a clip posted on the platform.

She also let others know the secret of how to “train” their hair to wash it less, as she said many people’s hair suffers because they wash it too much.

Michelle captioned the post: “I can go without washing for 8 weeks! Do you suffer with oily hair or over dry ends? It’s because you're over washing it”.

In text overlays in the clip, she explained: “How I trained my hair and others to not get oily hair.”

Next, Michelle shared the first steps to take to achieve this, writing: “Step one - Whatever your wash day is, start pushing it out to the next day or two.”

She continued: “Then you need to persist and keep going with those extra days for a few months.”

Next, she said: “Once your hair has adjusted... add or alt an extra day for at least six months.

“And just keep going slowly over time adding an extra day.”

Michelle made a caveat to the video at the end, explaining that the process can take quite a long time to perfect and it varies from person to person.

But, she said that being patient with it is the trick to success.

She wrote: “This process can take from months to years... patience and persistence is the key!!”

In the comments, TikTokkers shared their experiences of greasy hair and their attempts to remedy this by training their hair to wash less.

One person commented: “My hair is oily hours after washing it. Then I have left it a week without washing and it’s so gross and itchy, it makes me feel depressed.”

Another shared their success, writing: “I’ve gone from washing my hair daily to once a week and I can feel a difference.”

Others said they were going to try the technique out on their locks.
