This year’s Met Gala was nothing short of fascinating.
From the Balenciaga ‘dementor’ ensemble worn by Kim K, who embraced the meme-worthy moments on her Instagram story and defended her outfit choice by saying “What’s more American than a T-shirt head to toe?!” to Frank Ocean’s plus one in the form of a lime-green ‘baby Shrek’ – we’re not a hundred per cent sure celebrities understood the assignment this year.
Naturally, the bold looks were bound to ruffle a few feathers.
Taking to her Instagram stories in a “Met Gala musings” series, Girls actress Jemima Kirke shared her disapproval of some of the night’s ensembles.
On Tuesday, the actress kicked off with Hailey Baldwin’s YSL statement black dress. “Date night dress. On a Tuesday. Second date dress. Impromptu dinner round the corner dress”, Kirke wrote.

She then went on to call out Megan Fox’s red Dundas gown as a “good look for a porn ceremony” before urging Grimes and Lorde to “Make. An. Effort. Please”.
Kirke also threw subtle shade at Natalia Bryant’s bubble dress, “Yawn”, she said before saying Irina Shayk’s floral gown got a “P for pass.”
The actress, however, did give credit where she thought it was due after she showed appreciation for Billie Eilish’s Oscar de la Renta ballgown. She wrote that it was “heaven”, adding that she has “the best rack in the game”.

The 36-year-old has since taken to her Instagram stories to hit back at the criticism towards her. “We’re talking about fashion here,” she said.
“Whatever I said on my Stories, I’d say to my best friend. And I’d expect my best friend to say to me. Because it’s funny and not personal.”
