There are a few traditions at Christmas that almost everybody can abide by such as eating way too much food, sitting around all day watching movies and being left completely frustrated by a puzzle.
We’ve already shown you a real brainteaser that the CIA released earlier this year, now it's the turn of the UK’s equivalent. The GCHQ have released a Christmas card themed puzzle which features a hidden message but you first have to decipher what the words in the message are.
The card features a Christmas tree bauble, that is decorated with a circuit board pattern. You are also given nine six-letter word sequences, which when fed into the decoration will reveal the secret message. However, you will need to follow the flow of the arrows on the bauble in order to solve it and let’s just say its is easier said than done but is guaranteed to keep you guessing throughout the festive season.
According to the GCHQ the card was sent to their colleagues by director Jeremy Fleming and also created by other members of staff but they have decided to let the public have a go too. A spokesperson from the organisation said, "Problem-solving is at the heart of what we do. Taking on this Christmas cracker gives puzzlers an insight into the skills you need to be a GCHQ analyst. Bring together a mix of minds by sharing it with the wise men and women in your household to find the solution.”
GCHQ have also shared the puzzle on Twitter and it is so far leaving people stumped.
GCHQ has said that they will be releasing the answer to the puzzle on their social media channels soon. Let’s hope that it’s sooner rather than later because we haven’t got a clue.
