The incest map of Europe

A map was recently posted to a popular mapping subreddit, which depicts the legality of incest between siblings in countries around Europe.

The map, drawn from a wikipedia page on the topic, runs on a red to green colour scale.

In the UK the legality of sexual offences is a devolved matter, however sex with an adult related as a parent, grandparent, child, grandchild, sibling, half-sibling, uncle, aunt, nephew or niece, is illegal.

These offences fall under the Sexual Offences Act 2003 in England and Wales, outlawing consensual sexual relationships between family members. In Northern Ireland similar offences are against the Sexual Offences (Northern Ireland) Order 2008.

In Scotland, these fall under the Criminal Law (Consolidation) (Scotland) Act 1995, which essentially replaced the Incest and Related Offences (Scotland) Act of 1986. A petition lodged 20 January 2016 calling for "Adult Consensual Incest" to be decriminalised, was submitted to the public petitions committee, but was not debated and no change was made to the law.
