Sometimes it feels like getting a date is similar to getting a job. You either get a reference or go online.
But one studious young man decided to go a third route, and seek out some advice from an expert.
Meet Jake, he recently told Twitter users about the time he enlisted the help of his English professor in order to draft the perfect text to his crush.
The pair sat down and came up with a pretty exhaustive looking plan, involving the three core aspects of persuasive speech: Ethos, pathos and logos.

Ethos established Jake's character - he's just a friendly classmate who is more than happy to help support Hannah without being overwhelming.
Pathos involves an appeal to Hannah's emotions - including the dog is a nice touch as everyone adores their pets.
Logos wraps the entire thing up neatly by aiding Hannah during a stressful time - we all appreciate help moving house and the promise of food is a winner too.

And guys, good news - the date was apparently a huge success.
Jake followed up his tweet to report that the pair watched the sunset and hung out with Winston, the "chill af" dog.
Could this be the beginning of a new theory based dating system? Maybe we can apply the good professors' table to Tinder conversations?
