Elon Musk believes that an age limit should be set for people who want to run for political office - and it’s a very meme-worthy 69.

On Thursday, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO took to his Twitter to address his thoughts about political qualifications.

“Let’s set an age limit after which you can’t run for political office, perhaps a number just below 70…” Musk wrote.

It may be a dig at Bernie Sanders, 80.

Last month, Musk got into a Twitter spat with the Vermont senator over tax policies for the affluent.

Sanders had sent out a tweet that said, “We must demand that the extremely wealthy pay their fair share. Period.”

Musk then replied a day later with: “I keep forgetting that you’re still alive,” presumably taking a jab at the senator’s age.

He also asked Sanders if he should sell more Tesla stock while continuing to write that he is a “taker, not a maker.”

And in March, Musk and Sanders went head to head again about how much money should be spent for space explorations.

Overall, If an age limit were to be enacted into a US law, that would prohibit political figures such as Sanders and Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, 81, from running for office.

Former President Donald Trump, 75, would also be excluded under the rule. He has alluded to his interest in a 2024 run for president.

Some people online appeared to agree with Musk’s sentiments.

“If we have a minimum age limit, then we should most definitely have a maximum age limit,” someone wrote.

Another added: “This is so obvious, just from a generational guidance and continuity standpoint. Older generations should be sharing their wisdom with younger generations, leading us steadily into a new era at every moment.”

Someone else appeared to find fault with the billionaire’s take on who should have a governmental role, with one making a comment about his wealth and how people shouldn’t earn over “$250,000 a year”.

“Let’s make it a rule that not any single person can earn more than 250k per year and they have to give the rest to poor people who can’t even afford to eat, You know, people who eat less than the food you probably waste each day. Let’s make that the rule...” they wrote.
