Ed Miliband is wandering around Australia growing a beard, asking people if they want a selfie

Last week there was only one story in Westminster, the fact that Ed Miliband was growing a holiday beard. It's the middle of August, OK.

All that exposure clearly wasn't enough for the man some people are ultimately blaming for Jeremy Corbyn's seemingly inexorable ascent as his replacement as leader, because the beard selfies are still coming in.

This one was posted by Christian Wolmar, an outsider in the Labour mayoral race, who said his granddaughter met a "nearly bearded" Ed in Noosa, where he "offered" her a selfie.
