A dog adoption advert has gone viral on social media, but not for reasons you might expect.

Last Wednesday, Wichita Falls Animal Services shared a Facebook post featuring a Husky called Sky sitting alongside employee Zackry Majewski.

The caption of the photo reads like a dating profile, describing how Majewski is “especially fond of Huskies and can always be found snuggling with a puppy in the shelter”.

It continues: “On his time off Zac enjoys hiking and listening to Country Music.”

It then explains how he chose to spotlight the “beautiful girl” Sky in the hope of finding her a “forever home”.

But viewers were more interested in finding out how they could take the blue-eyed, bearded stud home.

“Is the hot human up for adoption also?” commented one fan.

“Tatted, loves huskies, does he want a forever home too because I’ll take both,” wrote another.

“All the animals need pictures with Zac. I see a calendar in your future,” another recommended to the animal shelter.

While others joked: “Wait, there’s a dog in the picture?”

These are just four out of more than 26,000 comments racked up by the ad in less than a week.

For context, the most garnered by any other post on the Wichita Falls Facebook page is around 80.

Asked for his reaction to the response, Majewski told News Channel 6: "I don’t even have Facebook. People called me into the office, like my boss, and she was telling me, ‘it’s blowing up right now,’ and then it just kind of increased throughout the day.”

He added that "over a hundred people" had started following him on Snapchat and Instagram since the photo went up.

Fortunately, the post did serve its more honourable purpose, too.

The animal centre said they had received hundreds of calls from people looking to adopt pets from them – including Sky – since seeing the advert.

And while Majewski admitted that he wasn’t a fan of modelling he said he would continue doing photo shoots if it helped the animals.

‘"A lot of people want me to, and it’s just not something I like to do but, if it helps animals get adopted, then I will," he said.

"It got Sky adopted in like an hour yesterday, and we had over a hundred calls on her, so it was pretty great."

A calendar might be on the way after all…
