Plus-size women across social media are embracing their beauty and finding confidence in themselves in a new body-positive TikTok trend, showing that getting ‘bikini ready’ this summer is for all shapes, sizes, and curves.

First reported by BuzzFeed, the trend shows plus-sized women wearing baggier clothing before you see them sporting their two-piece bikinis.

One woman, in particular, named Randi Bosin, an affiliate for the online boutique Closet Candy and goes by @mrsbosin on TikTok,  posted a video earlier in the month that went viral, highlighting the trend.

In a video that reads, “I’m a damn Queen, and so are you. Put the suit on, babe!”

Bosin is seen in a red oversized t-shirt and black knee-length shorts with a patterned baseball cap.

“This is the type of outfit I wore to the beach/pool most of my adult life. I was ashamed because society says big isn’t beautiful,” the layered caption over text read.

But in the next scene of the video, you see her in a black two-piece bathing suit, as the text now reads, “I’ll never be ashamed again.”

The video was viewed more than 4.8 million times.

“No lie, you literally GLOW with that suit on. You’re exuding confidence,” someone wrote in the comments.

“You look amazing!!! I wish I could do this. Thank you for the encouragement,” someone else wrote.

Not too long after Bosin’s confidence and encouragement for others to embrace themselves, other women on TikTok joined in, showing how society has made them feel when embarking on summer activities such as visiting a beach or pool.

When speaking to indy100, Bosin discussed her self-confident journey and what she keeps in mind.

“I  started telling myself that it was okay to want to lose weight for health benefits but not for my worth. I could be on this journey and not despise myself along the way. The truth of the matter is the more I love myself, the better it is for my health,” Bosin said.

At times, she notes that it can be hard to deal with the “keyboard warriors,” but then she takes a step back, remembering why she’s “putting herself out there” in the first place.

“The messages, comments, and support I get from women around the world reminds me of the good in this world. Self-love is a learned habit and one we have to exercise each day.

She continued: “I also have a really strong ‘block hand,’  so if you come into my life with negativity and hate, you’ll be booted out faster than you entered. The first thing all women need to do is to rid anyone who is standing in the way of them straightening their Crown!”

The body positivity movement is also embraced by celebrities such as Lizzo (who Bosin also noted as her idol in her video comments). The musical artist recently took the internet by storm with her“BIG GRRL SUMMER” declaration, further encouraging everyone to love themselves for who they are regardless of what society believes are the standards for beauty.

Ultimately, Bosin wants to encourage women to develop more self-love and “stand up for their worth.”

“ I want society to open their eyes to the worth of a person just because of who they are inside and not because of the number on a scale. We have one life, and we need to live it joyfully,” she added.
