People can't decide what you should call a chip butty

Language evolves constantly and people in different parts of nearly every country on Earth have different names for different things.

Now a debate is raging on Twitter about how we should refer to what is quite commonly known as a 'chip butty'.

A tweet from LADBible posted on Saturday featuring a simple chip sandwich has caused something of a phenomenon online after the outlet asked people what they would call it.

There are many suggestions such as a chip sandwich, chip roll, chip muffin, piece and chips, chip piece, or chip sarnie. A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.

The people had their say and there was a distinct lack of consensus.
