A wedding should be all about the bride and groom, so when the girlfriend of the groom’s father decided to steal some of the spotlight for herself, the happy couple were understandably left reeling.
The drama of it all was captured in a brief but telling clip where the girlfriend proceeded to walk in front of the groom during his big moment walking down the aisle and just moments before the bride’s grand entrance too.
Immediately, you can tell he is peeved by her impromptu appearance as he visibly rolls his eyes, (though he doesn’t look at all surprised by her stunt).
What’s even worse is that in the clip, she also appears to have committed the ultimate wedding faux pas by wearing a long cream dress... can’t imagine the bride is best pleased with her attire.
The three-second clip was posted on Reddit under the “Wedding Shaming” subreddit that is described as “A place to shame wedding themes, brides, grooms, wedding party, in-laws, outlaws, guests, Uncle Bob, vendors... you name it, we shame it!”
Reddit user Jessica posted the video, along with the caption: “Father-in-Law’s girlfriend ruined our ceremony by walking in front of my husband down the aisle… proceeded to ignore us the entire weekend.”
Hundreds of comments have shared their thoughts on the situation and the woman was officially branded as a “Monster-in-law” by people.
One person wrote: “She only embarrassed herself. Don’t let it ruin the memory of your wedding, she’s just trying to make it about herself. Narcissistic people like that want the “spotlight” no matter how cringey [sic].”
“Cackling at his facial expression. It’s almost like he wasn’t at all surprised,” another person said.
Someone else added: “The wedding wasn’t ruined but step MIL did make a fool of herself and everyone can and will joke about this behind her back for years.”
“Agreed, this lady really embarrassed herself with this behaviour, but I hope the title of this post (“ruined our ceremony”) is an exaggeration and no one let a quick attention-seeking moment like this really ruin the whole damn ceremony,” a fourth person commented.
Meanwhile, many were quick to spy the woman’s attire looking a little too bridal for their liking.
One person said: “...and of course she’s wearing off-white. Because of course.”
“Shocked no one else mentioned this. Yeah, floor-length [dress] too. No wonder the groom looks shocked,” another person wrote.
Let’s just hope that the girlfriend’s stunt didn’t completely ruin the wedding for the happy couple.
