The Night Tube may be on hold, but at least London is getting itself a Night Mayor. Wait...

We can't quite believe no one at City Hall said this out loud before pushing ahead with this idea, but Boris Johnson really is going to appoint a Night Mayor to help preserve grassroots music venues in London, a third of which have closed since 2007.

According to a report, the Night Mayor will "champion the night-time economy", bringing together businesses, local authorities and emergency services.
