Documentary maker spikes her own drink to prove how horrifying effects are

A TV presenter has demonstrated just how dangerous drink spiking can be - by purposely tampering with her own drink as part of a new documentary.

Daisy Maskell was under expert supervision when she took a small amount of a drug often used for 'spiking' drinks, and even when combined with no alcohol, she was left shocked by its effects.

"The first symptom was my jaw locking up and it was so quick. It was within a few minutes of having the drink that my speech started to slur and after that I began to almost disassociate", she says.

"I didn’t feel very present – I felt very withdrawn and locked in."
