Liverpudlian UFC fighter hilariously calls out Instagram for suspending his account

Liverpudlian MMA fighter Paddy Pimblett made his UFC debut on Saturday night and immediately set the internet alight after calling out Instagram for suspending his account.

The 26-year-old nicked named ‘The Baddy’, had a thrilling debut at UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas, where he knocked out the Brazilian Luigi Vendramini in the first round.

A huge victory in a first fight usually signifies that a UFC fighter will be looking to call someone out for their next bout to really cement themselves as a fighter to watch.

However, when speaking to ESPN after his fight, Pimblett had one thing that he wanted to call out and it wasn’t another fighter. “I’m not really calling anyone out,” Pimblett said before adding: “The only thing I want to call out is the company Instagram. Give me my account back, you lizards.”

His candid calling out of the social media giant, which is owned by Facebook, was so funny even the reporter had to laugh.

This dispute with Instagram dates back to August where Pimblett got into a dispute with a Manchester City supporter in Bristol, as reported by Sportskeeda, that led to his original account, which had more than 150,000 followers being suspended, thus leaving him unable to promote his big first fight in UFC.

Fortunately for Pimblett, his success in his fight on Saturday has seen the followers on his new Instagram account skyrocket from just 28,000 to more than 240,000 overnight.

When asked by BT Sport after the fight about how he felt about his increased popularity on social media, Pimblett said: “No it’s just what I do, I’m an idiot. You know what I mean? I can’t help myself, I’m too much of a showman so I have to let people hit me, because I want people to see entertaining fights. I don’t wanna just go out there and blast someone out.”

It remains to be seen if his old account will be restored but his new account has already eclipsed his previous following so everything is looking good for the Liverpool native right now.
