This US football team made a childish joke about its rivals. It didn't go so well

Major League Soccer's north-western rivalry got heated on Tuesday night following the news of another European export landing on American shores.

The Portland Timbers Twitter account, channelling its inner adolescent, cracked a joke about their nearest rivals Seattle Sounders signing an Austrian midfielder Andreas Ivanschitz when they already have a player (Clint Dempsey) whose nickname is "Deuce" (which, in case you didn't know, is also slang for a number two of the bathroom variety).

Unfortunately for them, the Sounders had an emoji-laden reply lined up with a perfect picture of Dempsey to accompany it:

Sadly, they've since comes to their senses and deleted the reply. Maybe it has something to do with the current league standings:
