Sam Allardyce has left his role as England manager after being secretly filmed by Daily Telegraph journalists discussing how to ‘get around’ the FA’s rules prohibiting the third-party ownership of players.

Allardyce, who has left the position by mutual consent, has been replaced as Gareth Southgate on an interim basis.

Let's remember Big Sam's time fondly, no matter how brief it was, with a brief breakdown of some memorable stats:

1. He lasted 67 days in the job

This makes his time as a permanent England manager the shortest in the role's history.

2. He lasted two days less than the Chilean miners

3. He's the only England manager to last one game

The only other England managers to have such a short spell in charge were two caretakers.

Peter Taylor managed the side for one game in 2000, and presided over a 1-0 defeat to Italy. He gave David Beckham the captain's armband for the first time.

The other was Stuart Pearce in 2012, who led England to a 3-2 defeat against Holland at Wembley, following Fabio Capello's resignation.

4. He didn't play long ball

In his tenure, England enjoyed 64 per cent of possession and 95 per cent of the shots.

Domination.

5. He never managed the England team at Wembley

The national team of course - he's managed England's Soccer Aid team three times.

Which is two games more than he managed the England men's team.

6. He never conceded a goal as England manager

Iron defence, the trademark of a relegation-dodging battleaxe.

7. He finished with a 100 per cent win record

One World Cup qualifier victory against Slovakia?

Move over Sir Alf, he's England's all-time greatest manager.
