Fans will be able cheer their favourite athletes on to Olympic glory this summer in a host of fan zones across the country.

Team GB said it will host the free-to-enter zones from the opening ceremony on July 26 to the closing ceremony on August 11, featuring big screens showing the action from Paris.

Visitors to the fan zones will also be able to take part in Olympic-themed activities, watch on-stage entertainment and enjoy live DJ sets.

Appearances from past Olympians, question and answer sessions and medal celebrations with Team GB’s returning athletes are also planned.

There are nine confirmed fan zones which will be open in seven cities in the UK.

The venues include King’s Cross, Grosvenor Square and Battersea Power Station in London, the Bullring in Birmingham, Cabot Circus in Bristol and St James Quarter in Edinburgh.

The others will be held in Liverpool ONE, Spinningfields in Manchester, and Westquay in Southampton.

Team GB said it hopes to secure further sites across the UK as the build-up to the Olympics continues.

A spokesperson for the Mayor of London said: “London is the sporting capital of the world and the mayor is proud and excited to be hosting the UK’s largest Olympic fan zone at King’s Cross this summer.

“The Paris Games will see Olympians return home on the Eurostar after their events are complete, with the King’s Cross fan zone creating the perfect homecoming celebration for our victorious medallists.

“London’s three fan zones are part of an incredible sporting summer for the capital and a key part of our work to build a better London for everyone.”
