Ed Sheeran has been revealed as the new shirt sponsor of his hometown football club, Ipswich Town, from next season.
The League One club will wear the music icon’s logo on their shirts throughout the 2021-22 season - the logo includes all of the symbol titles from his previous hit albums, “+”, “x”, “÷”, and also a minus and an equals sign too.
The 30-year-old who is worth a staggering £200 million, made the lucrative sponsorship agreement sponsorship that will cover both the men’s and women’s first team kits in a one-year deal with the Blues.
The Tractor Boys now have American investors after a recent £30 million takeover bid.
On his Instagram, Sheeran shared the news to his 31.9 million followers writing: “This bloke is the new sponsor of @ipswichtown football club. Do well,” accompanying an image of himself as a child wearing the blue, white and red kit.

The singer moved to Suffolk from Yorkshire as a child and lives 16 miles from Ipswich, in the market town of Framlingham.
In a statement published by the club, Sheeran said: “The Football Club is a big part of the local community and this is my way of showing my support.
“I have always enjoyed my trips to Portman Road and I’m looking forward to going back there as soon as supporters are allowed into stadiums again.
“With the new owners from the US coming in, there are sure to be exciting times ahead for Ipswich fans, including myself. Hopefully we can stop being slightly on the huh!”
But what does that logo on the front of the shirt mean? “All will be revealed in time,” added Ed.
So what do people think about this surprise announcement?
Fans are trying to figure out what the minus and equal signs mean, with some believing Sheeran is hinting that another album era is coming later this year.
