A new advert featuring footballing superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has been released and it's hardly the greatest thing that he has ever been associated with.
The clip which has appeared online on Friday, sees the Portuguese striker promote the Singapore-based ecommerce app Shopee, of which he is a brand ambassador.
Ronaldo, who is no stranger to bad adverts, scores a goal in the commercial but before he can do his iconic celebration, notifications for the app drown him out and soon everyone, including the Juventus man, are possessed by Shopee.
Then, for no obvious reason, everyone begins to sing a rendition of the infamous 'Baby Shark' song which has plagued parents of young children for the past 12 months.
In a statement from the company, they said:
Cristiano Ronaldo will work with Shopee on a wide range of initiatives to engage and inspire people in the region.
Shopee CEO, Chris Feng added:
We are delighted to announce our partnership with one of the greatest athletes of our time.Â
He is an inspiration to many, and his dedication to football matches the deep commitment we have towards our users.
Together with Cristiano Ronaldo, we look forward to creating a lasting positive impact on our region.
Beyond the good intentions of the advert, football fans have been left aghast at what they have seen and don't know whether to laugh or cry.
Incidentally, on this very day in 2003, Ronaldo made his debut for Manchester United, coming on as a substitute in a 4-0 win over Bolton at Old Trafford.
We think that we can safely say that he would rather you remember this performance instead of his showing in this advert.
