The Olympics is a time for new national heroes to emerge - and not all of them have to be sports stars. Enter Mavis (also known as #Olympicnan) the grandmother of GB Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty and your new favourite person to follow on Twitter.

This can only be good.

Her Twitter bio says: ‘Proud Nan to a World Champion Breaststroker’ and she’d prepared well in advance for her 21-year-old grandson's competition.

In true grandma style, she's even got the window cleaner involved in the bunting

Proudly showing him off

She's been documenting every part of Peaty's Rio 2016 Olympics journey, beginning from when he passed the qualifiers on Sunday for the 100m Breaststroke, breaking his world record...

...even signing her Twitter messages "Love nan"

And when Peaty won the gold medal for the Men's 100m Breaststroke, she couldn't contain herself...

And she's been grandma Mavis to the whole GB team, it seems:

And people thoroughly love her for it...
