‘Friends’ fans can finally rejoice! On Thursday, HBO Max confirmed the release date for the upcoming reunion, in addition to a teaser trailer.
In the forty-one second teaser, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc and Lisa Kudrow are seen walking alongside each other on the same studio lot where the original series was filmed on.
With a title card reading, “The One Where They Get Back Together,” the cast walks with their backs to the camera, as a piano version of the show’s theme song plays in the background.
Aniston, who plays the beloved Rachel Green on the series, was the first to share the teaser on her Instagram account, writing: “It’s official! The #FriendsReunion premieres May 27th on @HBOMax — could we BE any more excited?! 😝❤️,”
When will it premiere?
On Thursday, HBO Max confirmed that the reunion special will air on May 27th. The the one-off special was originally supposed to air in 2020, but thanks to multiple pandemic-enforced restrictions, production was delayed. It finally air at the end of May on the HBO Max streaming service.
What can we expect?
Directed by Ben Winston, the special will include an array of diverse guest stars, including: David Beckham, Justin Bieber, BTS, James Corden, Cindy Crawford, Cara Delevingne, Lady Gaga, Elliott Gould, Kit Harington, Larry Hankin, Mindy Kaling, Thomas Lennon, Christina Pickles, Tom Selleck, James Michael Tyler, Maggie Wheeler, Reese Witherspoon and Malala Yousafzai.
The entire special will supposedly be unscripted and take place on the original Friends soundstage, at Stage 24, on the Warner Bros. Studio lot in Burbank.
Will the entire original cast return?
Yes! All six of the original cast members will return to the reunion, including Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc and Lisa Kudrow. We can just hear Janice yelling “Oh. My God!”
