Top Gear team finally chased by angry mob

The cast and crew of Top Gear were forced out of Argentina by a mob angry over a number plate they deemed to referenced the Falklands War.

A Porsche used by the team had the registration H982 FKL - which some suggested was a reference to the 1982 Falklands conflict.

However Top Gear's executive producer Andy Wilman said that it was just a coincidence, explaining: "Top Gear production purchased three cars for a forthcoming programme. To suggest that this car was either chosen for its number plate, or that an alternative number plate was substituted for the original is completely untrue."

The show's presenter Jeremy Clarkson spoke out about the incident in a series of tweets this morning, saying: "The number plate WAS a coincidence. When it was pointed out to us, we changed it."

He said the crew had been chased to the border of Argentina by thousands for "political capital" adding "for once we did nothing wrong."
