Multiple staff members reportedly quit work on Mission: Impossible 7 because of Tom Cruise’s rants about coronavirus safety.

According to The Sun, five people walked away when Cruise exploded again after “months” of tension.

A recording of Cruise’s first rant leaking to the public reportedly didn’t help relations.

In it, he can be heard accusing two staff members of jeopardising the film, and by extension the future of the industry, by standing less than 2 metres apart while looking at a computer. He shouted:

“I don’t want to see it again, ever! And if you don’t do it, you’re fired. If I see you do it again, you’re f*cking gone.”

Cruise’s rant proved divisive.

Celebrities like George Clooney and Whoopi Goldberg and some fans defended Cruise, arguing he was right to take the rules so seriously.

But others accused him of workplace bullying, particularly because he shouted and swore at staff and threatened to fire them from their jobs.

Mission: Impossible 7 is being filmed in the UK.

A coronavirus outbreak among staff while they were filming in Italy has already slowed production, which started up again two weeks ago.

Cruise, who is one of the film’s producers as well as its star, has undertaken extensive measures to try to ensure it is not shut down again.
