These are the world's top ten highest paid female actors

Forbes has published its annual list of the world's highest-paid actresses. While it is unlikely any of these stars will be worrying about how to pay the mortgage in the near future, cinema's leading ladies earn considerably less than their male counterparts.

The world's 18 highest-paid female actors earned a combined total of $281million (£179.3million), which is less than a third of the combined earnings of the world's highest paid male actors - and nine of the top ten are American.
