Stephen King hilariously distances himself from controversial Republican who has the same name

When you hear the name, 'Stephen King' the majority of people will automatically think of the renowned horror writer responsible for classics like It,The Shining and The Strand.

However, recent news might confuse some as another 'Steve King' has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

The other King is a Republican lawmaker from Iowa, who in the past has made some very questionable comments about white supremacy and very recently questioned whether humans would exist at all if not for 'rape and incest.'

The Republican made the comments while he was speaking in Urbandale, Iowa, where he was supporting an anti-abortion legislation that he sponsored in Congress, as reported by The Hill.

King reportedly said:

What if we went back through all the family trees and just pulled out anyone who was a product of rape or incest? Would there be any population of the world left if we did that?"

As you can imagine, although author King (Stephen not Steve) has written some truly terrifying and problematic things, he probably isn't too keen to be confused with someone spouting made-up theories about rape and incest.

This has led him to tweet this rather discreet but still funny tweet about his namesake.

Unsurprisingly, people loved King subtly distancing himself from this very controversial politician and replied with very obvious jokes.

This is far from the first time that King has bemoaned having to share his name with this individual.

In November 2018 he pleaded with Iowans to not vote for King, as he was 'tired of being confused with this racist dumbbell'.
