Sharon Osbourne’s TV show gets taken off air after she controversially defended Piers Morgan

US chat show The Talk has been pulled off air for two days after an argument between Sharon Osbourne and her cohost.

Sharon Osbourne was one of the first figures to vocalise their support for Piers Morgan after he resigned last week from his own morning talk show and has since been urged to apologise.

Following on from their exchange, CBS has begun an internal investigation and has taken the show from the schedule on Monday and Tuesday.

“We are committed to a diverse, inclusive and respectful workplace. All matters related to the Wednesday episode of The Talk are currently under internal review.” CBS said in a statement.

Her defence of Morgan led her colleague Sheryl Underwood to point out her tweet “gave validation” to his “racist” views.

Their exchange started an online backlash about Osbourne’s behaviour who said she felt “panicked, felt blindsided (and) got defensive” after being accused of being labelled racist for speaking up for her friend.

“I feel like I’m about to be put in the electric chair because I have a friend who many people think is racist, so that makes me a racist.”

“For me at 68 years of age have to turn around and say, ‘I ain’t racist’, what’s it got to do with me? How can I be racist about anybody or anything in my life?”

After getting increasingly angry, her words were bleeped out and Underwood took the show to an ad break.

This was prompted by Morgan’s departure from Good Morning Britain after he said: “didn’t believe a word” of what Meghan Markle told Oprah in their interview.

After Osbourne and Underwood’s exchange, Morgan took to Twitter to support his friend, demanding an apology for “slurs against me”
