Priyanka Chopra has shut down a journalist who questioned her legitimacy to present at the Oscars.
The former Miss World responded to a tweet from Peter Ford, a prominent Australian reporter, who wondered why she was involved in the Academy Awards ceremony.
He has since set his Twitter to private but had written in response to the announcement: “No disrespect to these two but I’m not sure their contribution to movies qualifies them to be announcing Oscar nominees.”
This followed the news that Chopra was due to give out an award alongside her husband Nick Jonas, singer and member of The Jonas Brothers, a revelation that caused Ford to raise his eyebrows and question the decision.
Chopra then took to the microblogging site to respond to the journalist, who describes himself in his Twitter biography as “the best and most widely heard entertainment journalist in Australia and NZ”, to highlight her filmography, which stands at over 60 acting credits.
“Would love your thoughts on what qualifies someone,” Chopra tweeted. “Here are my 60+ film credentials for your adept consideration.”

Her work includes the upcoming Matrix 4, 2017 Baywatch movie, the television show Quantico and lots of films in her birth country of India.
Recently, she has spoken about the effect that online criticism has on her. She told Marie Claire: “In the morning when I’m driving to work or I’m having my coffee, I’m flipping through Twitter, Instagram, the news, and when my name pops up, I’m like, ‘Alright, what are people saying? How are we feeling?’”
“I just don’t react to it or let it affect my mental well-being,” she said.
