Getting a cameo on The Simpsons is a sign you've really made it, but one famous New Yorker was allegedly denied the privilege.

In addition to celebrities and pop stars, politicians and successful business people have also featured in the iconic cartoon, often appearing as themselves.

These have included:

Tony Blair

Rudy Giuliani

No, Mr. President

Despite featuring a huge number of people over the years, The Simpsons reportedly turned down overtures from President Donald Trump to appear on the show.

The claim was made by one of the show's executive producers Al Jean.

Speaking at a Comic-Con panel session, Jean was asked if they had ever rejected a special guest in the show's 28-year history.

According to the Wrap, Jean replied

Let's just say he's the president of the United States.

A 'Trump' character has appeared on The Simpsons before, but never voiced by the man himself, nor has he appeared as another character.

Prior to taking office, the President made several cameos in film and TV as himself, such as Home Alone 2andThe Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and he did appear in a non sexual scene of a Playboy VHS.
